A Study Using Community Resources in the Lower Grades Visual Arts Instruction in Primary Schools-A case study of Hsin-Chu Xi-Men Primary School Community
This study adopts community resources in the lower grades visual arts instruction in primary schools based on our case study of Hsin-Chu Xi-Men primary school community. We hope to enhance students' understanding of own community, and extend contents of art courses. This study utilizes literature analysis method, action research method, and field visits to grade-2 students as its object. We examine and modify our courses by analyzing students works, students’ study list, students’ learning experience sheets, teachers’ feedback forms, and teachers’ teaching memorandums. The conclusion of this research is as follows: Ⅰ、“Community-oriented art education” is regarded as an important part in contemporary art education, and this has many similarities with the content and goal of art and humanity area course of our ongoing grade 1-9 curriculum. Therefore, this is the base of the implement of visual art. Ⅱ、Appropriate curriculum design and implementation methods of community- oriented art education.(1)Integration to the availability of community resources;(2)Design elements relevant to the subject and theme;(3)According unit topic to development of teaching activities;(4)Implement a variety of teaching activities;(5)Get on multiple assessment;(6)Examine the teaching and revise the course. Ⅲ、Using Hsin-Chu Xi-Men primary school community resources in the lower grades visual arts teaching effect:(1)Life teaching content and meet students’ interest;(2)Rich course content and mediums;(3)Enhance artistic skills;(4)Enhance other additional educational value;(5)To achieve the goal of the art of living;(6)Interactive learning and opportunities for cooperation Finally, based on its research result, this study offers the following suggestions for visual art curriculum design, teachers implementing the course, school administrative personnel, and future researches.
