This research is a narrative inquiry of a junior high school teacher’s life adaptation and responding to her teaching career.
The researcher adopted the imagery of a grass plant in bloom. This research is aimed to investigate the nature of this grass plant, which includes why this grass plant grows like this, and to reveal what this grass plant was like before blooming.
To develop the ability of taking action from reflective teaching, the researcher retrospected life experiences from her family-of-origin, childhood and sisterhood and reflected on the frustrations, confusions and chaos from teaching. The researcher realized that the challenges are the summation of the contextual factors of their own. The teacher researcher taught through her inquiry and inquired through her teaching and realized that the frustration, confusion, and chaos were the interpretations of her mind based on her own life experiences.
As the teacher researcher was inquiring her past life experiences and writing her own stories, changes also came to her own life of the moment. On the journey to inner self, the teacher researcher gained the wisdom of acceptance.
This journey of narrative inquiry is like a journey of a grass plant which blooms with a purpose. It has helped the teacher researcher to meet her true self and discover what value she embraces more.
