An imaginary realm is a place that exists only in the imagination and the author believes after death, but what does this world look like? How can a life that fades away in the real world exist in another world and what might it look like? This is the domain of the imagination where life is born from fantasy. During my time at university, a close relative passed away and as a result my life outlook gradually changed, ultimately resulting in this creative work. I tried to create a life of fantasy and through handicraft work transform that into art as a way of giving voice to my feelings, while simultaneously memorializing the subject of those memories as part of the creative process. Chapter one includes an introduction which explains my creative philosophy and motivation. As a student the death of a close relative changed my attitude to life and evolved into a motivation for creating art;Chapter two looks at the theoretical foundation of my work and brings together information on “existence and death,” “the life view of Laotzu and Chuangtzu,” “mythological fantasy,” “a discussion on related literature” and “a discussion on related artists and their work,” as a basis for analyzing this piece; Chapter three addresses creative philosophy and expressive form, detailing the shaping of my artistic philosophy andworking from thumbnail sketches; Chapter four looks at materials and techniques employed during this project; Chapter five looks at the results of my work and details the two seriesthat make up the project; Chapter six presents a conclusion and evaluates the results and value of the works produced, while also looking at future prospects.
