Having lived in a wide spread valley between Hualian and Taitung, I was amazed by acres of rice patties shinning color gold waving among silky winds. This had inspired me to transform such a magnificent view into pieces of ornament tal art, made of elegance and grace. The chosen materials are precious pure silver and pearls, which symbolize rarity and a sense of cherishment, just like the rice grown by hard working farmers. Such art pieces send out a metaphorical message that Taiwanese rice is guaranteed of the highest quality and liability. I wish to introduce Taiwanese domestic rice via a collection of artistic ornament named ” the Scent of Rice of a Millennia”, in hope of elcvating the reputation of Taiwanese rice. Design Purpose Ⅰ.To study the importance of rice in human civilization. Ⅱ.To study the presentation of forms of ears of rice grains. Ⅲ.To present the spiritual content of “The Millennium of Rice Aroma” hroughtherefined fabrication of precious metal ornaments. The white pearls are of various sizes, which signifies sweat drops running down from hard working farmer’s forehead ( in Taiwanese dialect: 大粒汗: bigger drops of sweat, 小粒汗: tiny drops of sweat). There is also a classical Chinese poem witch fits the metaphor: At noon ther hoe up weeds. Their sweat drips on the soil. Who knoes the rico that feads. Is the fruit of hard toil! -Li shen There are five series of work in the “ the Scent of Rice of a Millennia collection”. 1. The Return of Spring. 2. Joyful harvest. 3. Luck changes. 4. Each year is a good year. 5. Annual grand harvest. This thesis also provides completed information regarding different flux applied for different welding temperatures of gold and silver. Having felt discouraged by the lack sufficient resources for creating art, I have drown up a resolution to help poorer students obtain resources by establishing“Wu, Tie-Hua Artistic Jewelries Ltd. “ and “Wu, Tie-Hua Educational Foundation.” Key words: The scent of rice, Wave of rice, Harvest, plows, Stone mill.
