The semiconductor industry has long adhered to Moore’s Law which demands continuous advancement of pioneering production techniques while simultaneously pressures a certain level of capital expenditures to sustain competitiveness. Acquiring key technologies and quickly achieving high yield rates are essential for companies competing to establish a solid foundation in the industry. The ability to ascend to a strategic position through rapid implementation and hold optimal yield rate are key criteria to a company’s growth and sustainability.
Semiconductor measurement equipment suppliers play an important role in the semiconductor industry, in addition to providing solutions to fulfill the advanced process technology of customers, the supplier must also possess an insight on the pulse of the industry. In parallel, suppliers will need to carefully consider and determine the appropriate strategies for different companies in different stages of growth and adhere to their core value.
This study seeks to analyze the competitive strengths and strategic development of supplier cases studies in semiconductor industry using Michael Porter's five forces analysis, value chain analysis and SWOT analysis to discover how companies improve their competitive strength in this rapidly changing and highly competitive environment. In addition, what are the mind-set behind the supplier sell strategies and how should these supplier seek increases in product value to improve competitiveness against their competitors. Finally, provide directions and suggestions for future strategies for corporate growth within the semiconductor industry.
