本研究為開發數位微鏡元件的電子介面與控制系統,此系統其中一重要應用即全向3D顯示系統。「全向3D顯示系統」為ㄧ新型3D顯示系統,可於一個真實空間內產生ㄧ佔有體積的影像。此系統的影像源需要一高速投影晶片,目前使用德州儀器(Texas Instruments, TI)開發生產的數位微型反射鏡元件DMD(Digital Micromirror Device)。由於目前市場上控制DMD的控制系統,不符合即時顯示與更新全向3D影像之需求。本研究以此為目標,分析此電子介面與控制系統的功能需求與成本考量,進而實踐開發。分析結果使用USB3.0開發板,經一高速電子中介板與DMD晶片連結,完成經個人電腦直接控制DMD晶片。本研究完成之初步設計開發內容包含:選定連結個人電腦的USB3.0開發板並開發測試所需的韌體程式,設計連結USB3.0開發板的PCB高速中介板與DMD驅動訊號的方法配置,其中PCB高速中介板包含五種不同電壓之電源板與搭載100MHZ以上時脈之高速訊號板。最後經由測試,成功啟動DMD晶片並將訊號送入DMD晶片中,產生規律變化。

The research was conducted to develop an electronic interface and control system to the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD), especially for applications in volumetric 3D displays as a high frame rate image source, because currently available commercial DMD controller electronics cannot satisfy the demands of real-time image data update cost-effectively. The design uses a USB 3.0 development kit with a high speed interface board to connect to a DMD chip. A personal computer can then be used to control the DMD chip directly. The USB 3.0 development kit was selected based on functional requirements of a volumetric 3D display system design and its firmware was set up based on plans of testing the selected DMD chip. A 100 MHz high speed interface board was designed and fabricated and connected to the DMD chip. Control signal configurations analyzed and planned. Initial test results indicated successful power up and signal inputs capable of driving the DMD chip to obtain periodically responses.
