Li Yi (746-829) was a famous frontier poet of the Middle Tang Dynasty. His life can be divided into three periods: the youth before into the shongunate (746-779), the middle age in the frontier (780-805), and the successful career of his later years (806-829). Compared with other poets of that time, his life experiences is very rich, the theme of his poems are also very diverse. However, previous scholars generally pay more attention to his frontier poems, but there isn’t many comprehensive and complete surveys for his poetic style. Therefore, this article aims to take the poetic style of Li Yi as the main research topic, studying “vigorous” of "frontier poem" and “natural” of "non-frontier poem", respectively.
The thesis consists of five chapters, the first chapter, "introduction", reviewed Li Yi's life experience and poetry. The second and third chapters are the flexibility of "vigorous" poetic style and the marvelous of "natural" poetic style, respectively. The former subjects are the forty-eight poems written by Li Yi in shongunate, the later is non-frontier poem. In these two chapter, analyzed and discussed the two poetic style based on subjective and objective factor shown in his poems, proposed the characteristic of Li Yi's poems at the end of this chapter. The fourth chapter discussed the inheritance significance of "vigorous" and "natural" by reviewing Li Yi's poetic style in the history of literature. The fifth chapter is "conclusion", summarized Li Yi's "vigorous" and "natural" poems have a common "sentimental" emotional tone, pointed out the drawbacks of this paper and give some suggestions for future research. |
