Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to use the Movement ABC-2 and Zebris pressure analysis force plates comparison between motor coordination, which comparison between children with autism spectrum disorder and children with normal development. Methods: This study recruited individuals who met the requirements of this research project through the introduction of autism-related associations and/or organizations in the northern, central, and southern regions of Taiwan. This resolution involved one hundred recruitment subjects in total: 50 children with autism spectrum disorder(age: 11.54 ± 3.09 years; 44 males and 6 females), and 50 normal development children(age: 11.54 ± 2.51 years;41 males and 9 females). Each subject used Movement ABC-2 and Zebris pressure analysis force plate to test their coordination and balance ability. Results: Normal development children had a higher success rate than ASD children in the aiming and throwing test, Movement ABC-2 hand fine motor test, and the dynamic and static balance test. In the balance test of the Zebris pressure analysis force plate the swing area of ASD children with open and closed eyes was significantly greater than that of normal development children;the length of the pressure center trajectory of ASD children with open and closed eyes was significantly greater than that of normal development children; The swing rate of ASD children with eyes open and closed was significantly greater than that of children with normal development. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that children with normal development are more physically capable than children with ASD in motor coordination and balance. This study suggests that future studies can be designed to improve ASD children’s motor coordination and balance ability by using the ideas and solutions from dependent variables pinpointed in this resolution.
