Abstract The learning objectives of vocational high school students involve knowledge, skills, and attitudes, among which skills learning is the most characteristic and challenging. Achievement motivation is an intrinsic motivation involves engaging in a behavior to pursue achievement and goals. The challenge for current vocational education is how to use the achievement motivation as the learning strategy. This main purpose of this research was to explore the effectiveness of achievement motivation training model on skill learning of vocational high school students. The achievement motivation training model, which to cultivate the ability of vocational students to challenge difficulties, teamwork, problem-solving, and an attitude of excellence, includes four steps: 1. challenge difficult 2. determination goal 3. strives for perfection 4. cooperative skill training study. The sample of the study included 36 the second-year sheet metal major students. The curriculum with four hours each week for 17weeks includes computer-aided design and sheet metal welding practicum. After the internships activities, three form of evaluation, peer evaluation, self-evaluation, and teacher evaluation was conduct. Major Research findings as follow: (1) Students can complete individual skill assignments independently, while cooperative skill learning outcomes showed significant results with improves in speed and efficiency. It indicated that the achievement motivation training mode can improve the practical skills of vocational students. (2) Achievement motivation training mode provided students in achieve motivation and self-confidence, enhance the quality of self-improvement, and have a good learning attitude in knowledge, skills, and affection domain. (3) The data analysis found that there are no significant differences in scores between the male and the female students, which indicating that the same training model can be used in the future without considering gender factors. Research data also showed that cooperative learning of skills effectively promotes the interactive communication of students with high and low accomplishments. (4) Students have a pleasant and good working atmosphere in the cooperative skills learning environment, which helps students to have the spirit of "spontaneous", "interactive" and "shared good". (5) The internship works which provide students to assess the value and the meaning has a positive impact on students' learning attitude. The recommendation for future research was made to suggest that the achievement motivation training model could apply to other disciplines, and explore the influence of various disciplines internship courses on the improvement of skills learning effectiveness and attitudes of different types of practice courses.
