本研究旨在探討智能障礙者之手足於成長歷程中曾面臨之連帶污名經驗內涵，及其面臨連帶污名經驗之調適歷程。本研究採質性研究取向中的敘事研究法，研究者透過立意取樣方式，邀請3位智能障礙者之手足參與研究，資料蒐集以半結構式的深度訪談法，共進行 1～2 次的訪談，資料分析則採「整體-內容」的分析方法。研究結果發現：
一、 智能障礙者手足所面臨之連帶污名經驗內涵
本研究發現，三位智能障礙者手足會經歷到社會污名經驗，其內涵包括被認為命苦、被認為不適婚配、連帶被攻擊排斥、被賦予全能的期待等等。並因這些社會污名經驗而內化形成自我標籤，像是認為自身家庭背景比不上別人、認為自身遺傳不良基因、視自己為需要有能力的照顧者等等。對智能障礙者手足的影響則包含無限蔓延擴大的自卑感、擔憂他人眼光形成隔閡、伴侶關係及成家的挑戰、不受控制的擔憂與內疚、背負「模範生」的使命乘載無法示弱的壓力等。
二、 智能障礙者手足之連帶污名經驗調適歷程
本研究發現智智能障礙者手足面臨連帶污名經驗的調適歷程可分為三個部分，起初，智能障礙者手足為了面對不友善的環境而發展出許多順應策略，但也從生活中漸漸找到足以安定自我、萌生力量的轉捩點，最後得以解構污名而重新建構一個突破污名困境的自我。
最後依據研究結果，對智能障礙者手足、實務工作者、未來研究，進一步提出相關建議。

The purpose of this study is to explore the connotation of the affiliate stigma which faced by the individuals whose siblings diagnosed with mental retardation, as well as the adjustment process. This study was conduct based on narrative oriented qualitative research methods. The researcher invited three non-disabled siblings of the intellectually disabled to participate in the study by intentional sampling, and one to two interviews are conducted. The data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, and later analyzed adopts the " holistic -content" analysis method. The results of the study found:

1. The connotation of the affiliate stigma which faced by the non-disabled siblings of the intellectually disabled:
This study found that three non-disabled siblings experienced social stigma, which included the connotations of being regarded as life-threatening, regarded as unfit for marriage, jointly attacked and rejected, and endowed with the expectation of omnipotence, etc. And because of these social stigma experiences, they internalize and form self-labels, such as thinking that their family background is inferior to others, thinking that they have inherited bad genes, and seeing themselves as needing capable caregivers, etc. The impact on non-disabled siblings includes infinitely spreading inferiority complex, worrying about the formation of estrangement from other people's eyes, challenges in partnership and starting a family, uncontrolled worries and guilt, and the pressure of being a "model student" and unable to show weakness, etc. .

2. The adjustment process of the non-disabled siblings of the intellectually disabled when facing the experience of affiliate stigma:
This study found that the adjustment process of the non-disabled siblings facing the stigma experience can be divided into three parts. At first, the non-disabled siblings developed many adaptation strategies in order to face the unfriendly environment, but gradually from life. Find a turning point that is enough to stabilize the self and generate strength, and finally be able to deconstruct the stigma and rebuild a self that breaks through the predicament of the stigma.

According to the findings, some suggestions are provided for non-disabled siblings of the intellectually disabled, practitioners and future research.
