The subtle connection between mother and child sparks off when the new life takes root in the womb of the mother. This thesis analyses the series of artworks created between 2016 and 2019 that are autobiographical to the artist herself.
The first chapter Introduction outlines the story behind the artworks, the artist’s goals of creating the series, the field of studies regarding to this thesis and its research methods. The following chapter, Relationship Fractures and Its Reparation aims at rehabilitating the dependent mother-daughter relations. Based on the artist’s own experience and relevant film contents on a daughter’s desire for maternal love, the artist expressed her self-exploration and reparation from her traumatic experience through art creation in a positive angle. Contrasts will be made to reflect the artist’s personal life and related cinematic contents.
Third chapter Creation Context narrates the artist’s creative notion by initiating physical contents to interrogate the psychological complex and how it connects to physical awareness; it seeks to contrast with the artist’s creation and how to visualize trauma into the artist’s own work.
The fourth chapter Work Analysis is my statement on the transformations of my following works created throughout three artistic stages and how they correlate with one another on my following works: Creation, Pool of Myth, and Point of View from Another.
The thesis sums up with the final chapter Conclusion. My reflection on my work series will be explained and my next step on my artist career will be indicated from my Point of View from Another series.
