In this study, based on supplementary teaching characteristic, three students coming from different elementary schools with low achievement in Mandarin were used as research targets, and Chinese character component teaching was adopted; meanwhile, action research methods such as Chinese character feature character recognition teaching method, character recognition teaching of basic word and character recognition teaching of radical-group-text associated with graph were associated to investigate the effectiveness of Chinese character component character recognition teaching method in enhancing character recognition competence, in securing character recognition result and in reducing the probability of wrongly written character for students with low achievement in Mandarin. After eight weeks of teaching processes, together with researchers’ class-observing record, teacher’s self-examination, student’s learning list, result of pre-test and post-test and questionnaire survey, the research results obtained were as follows: 1 Implementation of after-class counseling course of “Chinese character component character recognition teaching” will be helpful in enhancing the interests from three students in the middle grade of elementary school on Chinese character component character recognition. 2 Implementation of after-class counseling course of “Chinese character component character recognition teaching” will be helpful in enhancing the competence from three students in the middle grade of elementary school on Chinese character component character recognition. 3 Implementation of after-class counseling course of “Chinese character component character recognition teaching” will be helpful in enhancing the competence from three students in the middle grade of elementary school for recognition on wrongly written character in phrase making, sentence making and character of similar pronunciation and homonym. 4 After teacher has received “Chinese character component character recognition teaching”course, teacher can gain change and growth on teaching project design, teaching skill, professional knowledge and experience. |
