This thesis discusses the author’s art work series during his graduate school from 2015 to 2018.
The first chapter explains how he starts to pay attention to the environment due to current changing living condition. He also reflects the relationship between himself and the environment when he sees the human being's act of destroying natural environment. In the development of the author's creative pattern, he starts with sketching modern concrete jungle and creating the landscape through closely observes succulent plants. In the end, he uses plants in the nook of the city as the natural residual images to describe his three series of works. On the whole, landscape painting is the author's direction in art and he never stop finding himself a position in landscape painting by studying art development. In the end of this chapter, the author further explains his own opinion about the keywords, ‘Human and Nature’, and ‘Land’.
The second chapter is the basic academy theory. The author discusses the changes of landscape painting in Western Art. Starting from the landscape painting during Romanticism, he explains how painters were able to connect landscape, humans and the natural. Then he looks back to the history of Taiwan landscape painting, the place where he was borned and raised, and studies the meanings from Japanese occupation to the present date.
The third chapter analyzes the creative concept and format of the author's art series during graduate school and identify how the author express the relationship between himself and the environment by using local material, symbolic translation and image reorganization, and how he tries the experimental substrates and related techniques.
The fourth chapter analyzes and explains every artwork base on the creation time. 'Grid and Cement', 'New Paradise' and 'Landscape'. The final chapter indicates the author's contemplation of the difference between himself and the landscape painting history. After analyzing his art series and search for the value and meaning within it, he positions himself as one contemporary landscape painting artist.
