The object of this study is to apply visual arts instructions within campus environments in elementary schools. The participants in this study are 27 third elementary school students in Changhua County. The purposes of the research are as follows: 1. To study the connotation of both the Art and Humanities in Grade 1 to 9 Curriculum Guideline, and the Campus Environment Based Art Curriculum. 2. To develop a series of art courses for grade 3 elementary school students to apply visual arts instructions within campus environments in elementary schools. 3. To analyze the outcomes and applicability of applying visual arts instructions within campus environments in elementary schools. This study utilizes Document Analysis, Action Research, and field visits to deliver courses designed for third grade students by analyzing students’ works, study list, learning experience sheets, teachers’ feedback forms, and teaching memorandums. Based on the research purposes, the conclusions are listed as follows: 1. The Environment-Oriented Art Education is the integration of humanities, artistic and environment. It is an interdisciplinary of Integrative Curriculum of text cultivated manners, art curriculum,and environment subject. There are similarities between the domain curriculum goal and the connotation of it and the field of Art and Humanities in Grade 1 to 9 Curriculum Guideline which is implemented within our country. This kind of similarities is the basis of visual arts education implementation. 2. The researcher designed the curriculum with the theme "campus environment". Based on the related campus environment, constructs three themes and six teaching activities. 3. The materials of courses in this research are drawn from real campus environment. The contents are multi-faceted and close to students’ day-to-day life, to achieve “learning through living” and increase the students’ interest in learning. The campus resources are everywhere so that it is applicable to promote application of visual art teaching. Finally, the researcher of this study provides suggestions to curriculum designs, teaching implementations, school administrations and further studies for the follow-up research and development.
