This paper reviews the history of the telecommunications industry and analyzes the core capabilities of the telecommunications industry in Taiwan. It compares the differences between the telecommunications industry and other high-tech industries and uses a professional telecommunications company as a case study to explore the innovation strategy direction and business model of Taiwanese telecommunications manufacturers. For Taiwanese telecommunications companies, the increasing demand for network products and the lowering of technological barriers, from wireless networks, digital set-top boxes to streaming media OTT boxes, to emerging network applications such as smart IoT, AI, and big data, have attracted more small companies and telecommunications industries cultivated by the mainland to join the competition, posing a threat. In the post-pandemic era, the efficiency of e-commerce logistics management in remote business opportunities is even more critical. Combined with IoT and AI (AIoT), a new type of commercial service derived from it will enhance the rapid growth of the IoT market. Starting in 2020, actively promoting 5G private networks and low-orbit satellite manufacturers requiring large-scale capital investment will be a new blue ocean for the telecommunications industry. How should manufacturers use innovative strategies for industrial transformation and technology upgrading, not just as hardware vendors but as providers of communication network technology integration and solutions? In the case study part of this paper, by examining the development status and trends of Taiwan's telecommunications industry and focusing on the industry chain of telecommunications equipment manufacturing, we first conduct a five-force analysis and literature review related to business models. Then, using a qualitative research method, we take Taiwan's telecommunications design and manufacturing factory, Company W, as an example to explore and discuss how to promote innovative strategies and business models and carry out corporate transformation in the face of the rise of the IoT and the increasingly white-hot slaughter battlefield of the telecommunications industry. By strengthening the development of open platforms and providing value-added services, manufacturers can improve their gross profit margins and enhance their corporate value.
