近年來，人們與寵物之間的連結日益緊密，寵物成為伴侶動物或家人的比率有逐漸攀升的趨勢。根據美國寵物用品協會統計，在COVID-19大流行期間，美國家庭飼養寵物的比率大幅升高，因此間接地提升了動物醫院之需求。國內對於研究動物醫院市場之文獻不多，為進一步了解影響國內動物醫院開業數目的可能因素，本文進行相關文獻探討，從中發現了飼主家庭收入、獸醫學院地區與獸醫師執業人數皆可能與各縣市動物醫院數量多寡有相關，飼主職業別因可就診時間不同也可能造成動物醫院營業時間不同。故本文依照獸醫師相關因素、人口結構因素與其他類因素區分成三種類別，共15項解釋變數，以各縣市動物醫院數量作為被解釋變數以計量模型進行迴歸分析。
實證結果在隨機效果模型下，得知獸醫師執業人數及男性人口比例對於一般動物醫院、24小時動物醫院及所有動物醫院設立影響較為顯著。而在固定效果模型下，單身人口比例、老年人口比例及中年人口比例對於一般動物醫院、24小時動物醫院及所有動物醫院設立有正向影響。而本文使用Hausman Test進行檢測，認為統計檢定值應使用固定效果模型較為適切。隨著台灣人口老化及少子化影響，加上毛小孩餘命漸增，毛小孩因老化導致慢性病提高，故24小時動物醫院有其成立之必要性。

In recent years, the proportion of households keeping pets has been increasing, the rate of pet ownership in U.S. households has increased during the pandemic, increasing the demand for animal hospitals. However, there is not much literature of the animal hospital market in Taiwan. After researching the literature, this paper looks for relevant data, according to veterinarian-related factors, demographic factors, and other types of factors as explanatory variables, and the number of animal hospitals in each county and city as the response variables with econometric models for regression analysis.
In this article, the Hausman Test is used for detection, so we use the results of the fixed-effect model. Empirical results show that under the fixed-effect model, the proportion of the single population, the proportion of the elderly population, and the proportion of the middle-aged population have a positive impact on the establishment of general animal hospitals, 24-hour animal hospitals and all animal hospitals. There is a trend of low-birth rate and aging population in Taiwan, and in the meantime, life expectancy of pets is increasing. It is necessary to establish more 24-hour animal hospitals to support the medical needs. This simulation analysis can provide a sound reference for veterinarian when deciding their location of animal hospital.
