本研究探究喜愛戶外活動的成年初顯期女性的自我身體欣賞經驗。邀請七位年齡介於24-30歲的台灣女性進行半結構深度訪談以蒐集資料,採用質性研究的反思性主題分析法進行資料分析。資料分析浮現的主題包括:(1)自我身體欣賞經驗的內涵,包含接納、尊重、重視及保護身體意象;(2)早年生活經驗對身體意象的影響;(3)成年初顯期身體意象轉變歷程,包括自我概念與人際互動的變化;(4)戶外活動的影響,包括挑戰身體能力、與大自然連結、及戶外活動社交圈夥伴的支持對自我身體欣賞的影響。參與者投入戶外活動不僅挑戰身體的能力,促進心理療癒與賦能,更能欣賞自己的身體。她們經歷接納自我、與大自然連結的經驗,改變她們的身體意象,促進自我身體欣賞。受訪者挑戰台灣社會對女性身體既有的審美觀,認同多元審美觀。研究建議女性多參與戶外活動,親近大自然及認識身體,發展及提升身體功能,接納並欣賞身體。諮商及相關專業人員應理解女性身體意象的多元複雜特性,尊重多元美和身體多樣性,展現尊重與同理心,協助女性克服於早年成長歷程所遭受的身體意象相關的負面影響,鼓勵女性接納並欣賞自己的身體,協助其建立正面身體意象與欣賞自我身體。
This study explores the experience of self-body appreciation from Taiwanese emerging adult women who enjoy outdoor activities. Seven women, aged 24-30, attended this study. Semi-structured in-depth interviews and a method of qualitative reflexive thematic analysis were adopted to collect and analyze data respectively. Themes were emerged from data analysis: (1) The connotation of self-body appreciation experience, including acceptance, respect, value, and protection of body image; (2) The impact of participants’ early life experiences on their body image; (3) The transformation of body image in the emerging adulthood, including changes in self-concept and interpersonal interactions; (4) The impact of outdoor activities on participants’ self-body appreciation, including the challenge of physical abilities, the connection with nature, and the support from outdoor fellows. The participants who engage in outdoor activities not only challenge their physical abilities, provide their psychological healing and resilience, but also enhance their self-body appreciation. They experience self-acceptance and connection with nature which change their body image, and promote self-body appreciation. The participants challenge society's aesthetic standards, and identify with diverse aesthetics for the female body. Implications of this study include that women could attend various outdoor activities to get close to the nature and to understand body, develop and enhance body functions, and accept and appreciate body. Counseling and related professionals should comprehend the diverse and complex characteristics of women's body image, value the diversity of body beauty, show respect and empathy, assist women cope with negative influences of body image in the early years of life, encourage women establish positive body image and self-body appreciation.
