賭博成癮是指對賭博異常的沉迷，並為個人的生活方式、財務狀況和心理健康帶來了嚴重的影響。本文報導了對9對賭博成癮患者及其家屬、6名無家屬一同參與的患者和4位醫療專家的深度訪談研究，以便了解家庭成員怎麼影響賭博成癮。我們進行了主題分析以找出特別突出主題，我們尤其重點關注會促使或阻礙賭博行為的問題、阻礙家庭內部溝通的原因以及克服這些問題的方法。我們提出了以下幾種用來降低賭博危害的科技設計：(1) 為病人與家人的溝通引入互動援助的同時也不要忽略重建病人自身的能力。(2) 家人必須學著調整自己對病人能力與對病人康復速度的期望。(3) 怎樣的資料視覺化設計可以促進病人與家人的合作。而本研究為緩解賭博成癮的科技解決方案提供了相當有價值的見解。

Gambling addiction refers to the problematic obsession with gambling, which brings severe impact on one’s lifestyle and financial and mental health. This paper reports an in-depth interview study with 9 pairs of patients with gambling addiction and their family members, 6 patients without the participation of their families, and 4 experts to understand gambling addiction in the context of family members. We conducted thematic analysis to identify salient themes, focusing on
issues that facilitate or impede gambling behavior, reasons that hinder intra-family communication, and ways to overcome them. We propose several technological designs for reducing the harm of gambling addiction: (1) bringing in interpersonal support while not undermining patients’ personal ability; (2) learning to adjust expectations towards patients’ abilities and recovery progress; and (3) design implications for data visualization to encourage cooperation. This paper provides valuable insights into the design of technological solutions aimed at mediating gambling addiction.
