APQP, Advanced Product Quality Planning, is a method of structured standard process applied by manufacturing industry. It could be utilized in the development of new or changed product and process development. The case company, the aerospace Manufacturing and Maintenance Company in Taiwan, undertook the aircraft fairing workpackage of composite parts from international aerospace company in 2016. The case company followed the drawing released from the customer, manufaturing and delivering the assembly parts for customer. Besides, the case company was requested by the customer to apply APQP for this new work package then. Due to the unfamiliarity on APQP process and unwell-organized planning, it is the customer to make the planning and drive the case company for the APQP management process causing the customer consider the case company is not so qualified for undertake the workpackage. ISO9001 revised substaintially in 2015 with more strengthening on the concept of risk management. The overall international business environment began to formulate risk management policies from the management level and implement risk management from top level to bottom workforce. The case company not only understands that the benefit of applying APQP process which is able to control progress more specifically , and identify potential risks to pre-conceive solutions in advance, but also to response to the trend of early prevention on risk with proactive solutions, the case company formally incorporated the APQP process into its internal operation manual in 2020. The customer notified the case company that there would be overall change on the aircraft configuration change to enhance the performance of the aircraft in 2020. Besides, the case company was asked for applying with APQP process to manage and control the change process. The case company organized the team and made the plan at early stage, assuring the output documents in every APQP phrase. The study also discuss the differences before and after the implementation of the APQP process in 2016 to understand whether there are deficiencies and improvements with the method of APQP maturity aassessment matrix. Due to no appropriate way for manageing and preserving the documenets in the past, the case company develop the APQP information platform not only enabling to check the comppletion status of APQP process immediately, but also bringing great benefit for knoweldge management. However, the implementation of APQP in the aerospace manufacturing industry is not yet common. There are also very few domestic related literatures on the implementation of APQP in the aerospace industry. Using this case to understand the differences before and after the formally introduction and the reasons for improvement will not only help the case company has a better understanding of the direction of improvement in the future, and it is also beneficial for the case company to implement new product, new or changed process development and changes in other projects. For domestic aerospace industry manufacturing suppliers, it can also be the referenced methods when introducing APQP in the early stage.
