Abstract
This thesis takes the series of creations I made as the research object during my master’s study (2019–2022), and responds to my own experience through these creations. My research focuses on subtle details, painting diversities, visual illusions, and perspective styles. I use my own organs or body parts as the main objects of depiction. In my creation, I use brushes, ink, leaves, half alum Japanese paper and other materials to present the body image through the language of paint brush and ink. It consists of five chapters. The first chapter, "Introduction", explains the motivation, purpose, content and method of this thesis. The second chapter, "Theoretical Basis", studies the contemporary brush and ink language deduced by the transformation of the spirit of brush and ink, explores the artist's imagination of the sensory experience of the body, and uses the principle of visual illusion to explore different perspective styles. The third chapter, "Creative Concepts, Forms and Techniques", describes how I discover various traces through subtle observation, which triggers a series of imaginary figures and projects the beauty inside my heart. In this chapter, I also analyze the changes of work styles, and how to combine the traces of the texture strokes pattern method and rubbing method to form my own painting language. The fourth chapter, "Work Analysis", analyzes the works, including "Cell Series", "Magnifying Glass Series", "Like This and That Series", and "Collage Series". The fifth chapter, "Conclusion", summarizes the research, I use techniques like rubbing and collage to develop my own personal ink language, and use ambiguous figures to interpret imaginary body images.
