This thesis examines Hsu Yu’s literary activities in Hong Kong and Taiwan since the 1950s. In the face of the founding of the PRC in 1949, the relocation of ROC to Taiwan and the Cold War. As a result, a large number of Chinese literati decided to leave China. After he arrived in Hong Kong in the 1950s, he also had different literary influences in Hong Kong and Taiwan. During this period, he also founded three literary magazines, and his "war + love" novel mode also had a great influence on the narrative style of Taiwan's anti-communist novels. Therefore, this study deals with the time span from 1950 to 1969.
The present study aims to explore Hsu Yu's cross-regional influence of literature in the 1950-1960s in Hong Kong and Taiwan, primarily based on Hsu Yu's literature document review, his literary influence on Taiwan and the three magazines he edited during his stay in Hong Kong. In this context, the cross-regional influence turned out to serve as an important literary form and space, by which as a case of we are able to interpret and discuss Hsu Yu’s state of mind during that period of time. In addition, after political upheavals in 1949, the mobility formed intriguing paths of disseminating culture and literature.
Based on the above, this thesis will reorganize the influence of Hsu Yu's cross-regional movement and his contribution to different regions from the perspective of Taiwan and Hong Kong literature. It can show the modern significance of its literary influence more macroscopically, and observe the literary patterns shaped by Hsu Yu in different regions.
