智慧型手機、5G、高校能運算、AI、物聯網、電動車等多元發展與高科技的應用需求下,半導體產業已成為先進科技的基礎產業。受限於半導體摩爾定律的限制,近年半導體發展可觀察到成長的動能變的緩慢,對於先進製程的投資大部分的科技大廠紛紛退出競爭行列,半導體設備商對於先進製程機台的研發以及量產布局的競爭策略,已成為突破未來成長動能趨緩必須思考的課題。
此外,半導體製造與設備商在技術創新與成本的商業考量之下,為延續摩爾定律與先進製程研發,如何透過商業模式的創新,訂定不同內外部的定價策略持續公司成長,亦是各企業競逐先進製程大餅刻不容緩的議題。本研究透過企業創新模式的探討,分析其競爭優勢以及定價策略的差異,加上產業未來可能趨勢與變化分析,找出半導體設備創新與策略方向。
於半導體產業的晶圓微縮的競爭中,最重要的關鍵在於製程設備,擁有最先進的製程設備技術能夠使企業在產業中保持競爭力,但要能兼顧技術創新以及利潤最大化的競爭優勢,如何透過新方法有效率整合內外部資源,亦是擠身先進製程群的一大難題。研究發現製程的技術已經成為半導體產業延續優勢的利基,設備商與製造商緊密的合作,共同研發次世代設備,可能是突破物理條件限制的唯一解。
本論文的研究方法,經由個案分析的方式來研究半導體微影設備商艾司摩爾 (ASML) 商業模式,如何應用創新模型分析持續將技術研發觸角向外延伸,強化自身的競爭優勢。其次,利用商業模式的創新,透過與客戶之間的合作以及定價策略,來達成互惠雙贏進而成為微影設備的領先者。研究結果顯示,ASML技術上追趕著摩爾定律,商業模式鎖定先進製程市場,不斷地推出創新的產品,創造新的創新動能,同時藉由併購來強化技術、整合解決問題的技術,開創新的市場,加大與競爭對手在先進製程距離。本論文希望能透過個案分析及深度訪法結果分析個案,並期望能幫助半導體領域相關的公司,就此個案結果可以訂定公司競爭優勢及定價策略規劃之參考依據。
With the development of diversified developments and high-tech applications such as smart phones, 5G, HPC , AI, IoT, electric vehicles, semiconductor industry has become the basic foundation for the advanced technology. In recent years, the development of semiconductors can be observed which the growth of momentum has been slow. In view of most semiconductor foundries had withdrawn from the competition of advanced technology, the competitive strategy has become a topic that must be considered to break through the slowdown of future growth momentum.
In terms of commercial considerations and continuing Moore’s Law with advanced process development, how to use business model innovation to formulate different pricing strategies to continue company growth is also key important. Through the discussion of enterprise innovation models, this study identify the analysis of competitive advantages and differences in pricing strategies. In addition, coupled with study of future development trends in the industry, it is necessary to find out the direction of semiconductor equipment innovation and strategy.
Having the most advanced process technology and equipment is the most important in the competition of wafer miniaturization within the semiconductor industries. How to efficiently integrate internal and external resources through new methods is also a major topic should be discussed. Research has found that closely cooperates between equipment manufacturers and manufacturers to jointly develop next-generation equipment may be the only solution to break through the limitations of physical conditions.
The result of study is through the case analysis the business model of semiconductor lithography equipment manufacturer ASML, to explore how ASML applied the innovation to strengthen its own competitive advantage and pricing strategies. The research results also show its business model which is targeted in the advanced process market and innovative products are continuously introduced to create new innovation momentum.
