本文聚焦中緬邊境盈江地區的傈僳族社區，在逐漸定居于高海拔山區的漫長歲月裡，傈僳族人與山林地景的不斷互動，形成複雜的人與非人生命的親密關係。以人猿關係為代表，傈僳族人與諸多非人生命的緊密互動在以往的研究中未被關注。失去對地景與關係的關注，僅從政治治理的角度理解傈僳族的發展困境，可能會輕易倒向對於傈僳族文化落後、不進步、不文明的論斷。本文將探究在快速捲入社會發展與國家治理的進程中，在遭逢外來生態保育行動者以及發展計劃之時，傈僳族人將會以何種方式面對充滿變化與不確定性的生活。對於傈僳族而言，希望依然蘊含于祖祖輩輩賴以生息的地景之中。

This article focuses on the Lisu communities in the Yingjiang county on the Sino-Myanmar border. I argue that in the mountainous area that they dwelled and constantly traveled, they have formed complex and intimate relationships with non-human lives, including the newly identified skywalker gibbons (Hoolock tianxing), in the forest landscape. These rich experiences also inform them about ontological questions such as who they are and where they came from and guide them forward as they encounter new projects such as gibbons’ conservation.

Therefore, for the Lisu people, given the social upheaval that they experienced, there is still connections embedded in the landscape where their ancestors have lived for generations. Different from previous studies on the Lisu people for which folk culture is the main focus of analysis, this article focuses on the interaction between Lisu people and the forest landscape in the context of regional governance and global connections, particularly the Skywalker gibbons that have become the new focus for environmental conservation and development projects. It aims to explore how Lisu people face a life full of changes and uncertainties and grasp the hope for the future in their landscape in modernized China.
