This research thesis documents a series of my work from 2018 to 2021in which I’ll explain how collage creation became a method to alleviate my anguishes and anxieties, as well as sublimated the pain of my life in the process. During the research period, I read texts about women's studies, artists' experiences in scarcity, and Carnivalesque theory etc. to achieve self-awareness and self-affirmation through the making of art.
In this research thesis, there will be five chapters and an appendix. In Chapter I, Introduction, I’ll describe the research motives, subject matter, and methodology. Questions like “How do I shape flaws into energy and forms through art creation?” as well as "How can I confront the absurd in life through art creation?" will be interpreted. In Chapter II, Carnal Ductility, I’ll establish the theoretical basis of the thesis through lyrical writing, my revisits memory fragments that are found on different timelines. I’ll also investigate my work by exploring concepts such as "Carnivalesque", "Dark Humor", "Fragility", "Transformation", and "Self-affirmation." In Chapter III, Growth Through Movement, I’ll expound on collage techniques and related theories regarding the shift from single media collage creation to multimedia collage creation, as well as analysis the creative form and content of reference artists. In Chapter VI, Continual Contact and Carnival, I’ll analyzes my works through five series, and explicates each series' connective ideas through different exhibition venues. In Chapter V, Conclusions, I’ll delineate my segmental creative process, and the light of creative energy and self-affirmation through review and reflection.AppendixⅠ, the record of interviews in 2020 invited to participate in the "Super Artists Design" program of Beautiful Life Television, AppendixⅡ, the exhibition record of the 2021 graduation solo exhibition-"The Carnival of Collage".
