新竹市的政治版圖一直以來被認為是藍大於綠的區域，2014年林智堅拿下執政權，翻轉了新竹市的政治板，加上分裂投票助長小黨的崛起，更是讓新竹市的政治版塊正式變成三強鼎立。

新竹市是科技之都，擁有高科技產業聚落「科學園區」，創造就業機會的同時，也吸引非常多的科技新貴移居新竹，他們在新竹結婚生子，人口結構的組成幾乎是收入高的科技新貴、理科太太、全職媽媽以及年幼的小孩。新竹市近年來的城市樣貌：收入高、學歷高、生育率高、年齡層低 ，也正是東區的人口結構樣貌 。而這群新成員對於政治也有新的期待，正在新竹市逐漸發酵中。

本文將試圖以回顧中選會資料分析、標準化問卷調查及結果分析，探討新竹市東區的選民結構以及選民心目中理想候選人條件，加以解析選民結構的改變與選擇青睞的政黨之間微妙連結。

Most districts in Hsinchu City are considered as the political territories of the pan-Blue coalition, though many political plates are overturned by the Mayor elect Chih-Chien Lin. In addition, the rise of minor parties verifies the rule of three in the political market.

Due to the agglomeration of high-technology companies in HsinChu Science Park, for the created job opportunities, many yetties are attracted to migrate to the City of Science and Technology, which greatly affects the population structure. Major recent migrants are characterized by high income, high education, high fertility rate, and low age, which corresponds to the population structure in East District in the HsinChu City.

Based on the analysis for the data from Central Election Commission and questionnaire, this paper attempts to analyze the electorate structure in the East District in the City, and the features for the ideal candidates from the electorate's perspective. Furthermore, a subtle connection between the shifts in the electorate structure and the replacement of the most popular party can be revealed accordingly.
