本文運用美國職棒大聯盟官方網站與運動權威數據資料，針對1976-2018年期間，接受尺骨附屬韌帶重建手術的投手，其術前與術後的成績，藉由球員生涯每年季賽個人成績數據作為追蹤資料，並利用迴歸分析與赫斯曼檢定(Hausman Test)等方法來檢視選手術後重回大聯盟後，對於薪資是否有顯著影響。本研究將可對選手思考接受尺骨附屬韌帶重建手術提供實證數據。
主要實證結果顯示，隨著選手年齡的增長，確實會影響薪資，但是球員接受手術的年齡卻與薪資沒有直接的關聯，利用球員年齡、投手控制失分的能力與聯盟平均比較值、投手可以自己控制比賽的能力、每局被上壘率、球員對球隊的貢獻度、在所屬聯盟與球隊整季的平均勝率基礎下，球員對球隊勝率的影響指數、獲獎次數、國籍與大聯盟薪資等變數執行迴歸分析後，發現球員在數據表現優異的狀況下，薪資與年齡係數是顯著與正相關，但是當球員到了一定的歲數後，又逐漸與薪資的關係呈現負相關，而且與是否動過尺骨附屬韌帶重建手術與球員薪資並無顯著關係，反而是與球員的各項表現數據變數有著明顯的顯著關係。
大聯盟明星球員的光環未必是高薪資的保障，球團在簽下球員時，並不會著迷於曾經獲得任何投手獎項(如防禦率王、三振王與救援王等)的球員以及是否為美國籍的球員;反而是對能有效掌控球賽與控制球隊失分的球員可以獲得較好的薪資待遇，另外在投手需要上場打擊(無DH制)的國家聯盟球隊裡，不會因為傷後復出球員是否影響打擊而猶豫與球員簽約的意願，同樣的在投手不需要上場打擊(有DH制)的美國聯盟球隊，亦不會因為傷後復出球員是否影響投球的專注力而猶豫與球員簽約的意願。

For the period 1976-2018, the pitchers who received the Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction surgery, their pre- and post-operative results, and annual personal performance of the players' career season were used as a panel data Und using regression analysis and the Hausman specification test to examine whether the players have a significant impact on their salary, when they returned to the big league after surgery. This study will provide empirical data on players considering whether to receive the Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction surgery.
The main empirical results show that as the player's age increases, it does affect the salary, but the age of the player's surgery is not directly related to the salary, Based on the age of players, the ability of the pitchers to control the earned runs and the average for comparative value of MLB, the ability to control the game, walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP), the contribution of the player to the team, the average winning percentage of MLB and the player's team throughout the season, then perform the regression analysis on the Impact factor of players on the Winning Percentage of Team, the number of awards, the nationality and the salary of MLB. It is found that the salary and age coefficient are significantly and positively correlated with the players' excellent performance, But when the players reach a certain age, these factors are gradually negatively correlated to the salary, moreover, there are no significant relationship with the player's salary, whether the players received the Ulnar Collateral Ligament Reconstruction surgery or not. Instead, it has a significant relationship with the variables which belong to the player's various performance.
The aura of the MLB’s star players is not necessarily the guarantee of high salary.When the team is signing players, it will not be fascinated by the players who have won any pitcher awards, such as earned run average (ERA) leaders, strikeout leaders and saves leaders, and if they are American players. Instead, the players who can effectively control the game and control the earned runs, they can get better salary. In addition, in National League (NL) where the pitcher needs to play (no DH), the team will not hesitate to sign the contract with the players, who return to the court after injury, whether or not they will affect the Batting. Similarly, in American League (AL), where the pitcher does not need to play (with DH), the team still will not hesitate to sign the contract with them, whether their pitching attention is affected or not.
