The main purpose of this study is to explore the influence on “Using Picture Books Teaching Program” in writing ability for elementary second grade students, and find out the problems occurred during the teaching procedure and the problem-solving strategies. Based on the results from this action research, the author provided a demonstration for other teachers. The research participants were 16 second graders, students in the researcher’s class. Based on action research method, picture books teaching activities were designed by the researcher and instructed for 8 weeks. These students’ worksheets, observation, teacher’s self-evaluation notes, and interviews were all adopted to collect and analyze the data. The findings and results derived from the analysis and induction discussion of the research on summarized as the following: 1. Design Picture Books Teaching Program to improvement writing ability needs to consider the student's learning situation, the focus of the Chinese text unit and the teaching of the picture book to increase the student's writing materials. 2. Using Picture Books Teaching Program is beneficial for second graders in writing ability. 3. Picture Books Teaching Program has a positive impact on students' language learning. 4. In the first teaching stage, the problems were students are disturbed by external factors in class and students need to be guided again. The strategies adopted were to establish classroom rules, increase discussion activities, and timely intervention assistance. 5. In the second teaching stage, the problems were some students unable to complete writing in time, there is a gap between the spoken expression response and the writing ability, and student's writing is not as good as the researchers expected. The strategies towards these problems were to guide before writing, immediately solves student problems, show the good works in the discussion, adjust your mentality, and looking for a teaching partner. According to all the above conclusions, the thesis provides some suggestions to supply conference to schools and teachers in teaching and research.
