A little more than ten years ago, I entered into telecom industry after obtaining my bachelor’s degree. I still remember playing “Snake” on my Nokia 3310, the game almost went viral. It was until 2009 the launch of the first smart phone, i-phone 3GS, signaled a new era in human history.
Telecom industry consists of broad areas, including broadband internet service, Internet of Things (IoT), internet circuit, mobile network, international roaming and so on. Today, we can’t live without internet access, which is affecting our life, so as our next generation.
When telecom market reaches a saturation point, innovation is the only way to fight competition. Telecom operators need to generate new business opportunities by providing innovative service and business models.
This study focuses on the business model for ICT (Information Communication Technology) service at Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., which is considered the industry leader in Taiwan. Business income includes broadband internet service, mobile network and so on. While the telecom market gets saturated, telecom operators are looking to promote the ICT use at home and abroad to gain possible competitive advantages in the market.
