Investment banking is part of the overall financial services industry, an industry born by high-efficient intermediation for the capital financing needs of enterprises and the investment needs of investors for positive wealth growth. It started in Europe in the era of great navigation and followed the regional economic development developed in US and Japan. Since the development of investment banking, it has promoted the development of new ventures by providing capital financing, and promoting the reorganization of large-scale enterprise resources using M&A. It has made great contributions to the global economy, the effective use of funds, and the development of regional advantages. The motivation for this paper was undertaking an analysis of the investment banking industry, including its evolution, operating model, market size, market ranking, major factors and development trends. It examines profit structure, corporate value proposition and development strategy of several major investment banks worldwide world to understand the competitive advantages and differences between investment banks in the complex situation related to global political, economic and social rapid changes and summarize the important elements of this innovation and development strategy for Dr. Shih-Chang Hung’s innovative six-strategy structure, for domestic securities demonstrate how investment-related enterprises can differentiate and still grow despite the limited circumstances of Taiwan's home country market.
