Taiwan is a marine island nation with insufficient energy resources. 98% of the energy supply relies heavily on imports. In order to respond to energy circumstances domestic or foreign, we wish that energy safety, economic development, and environmental protection can all be attained without affecting the fundamental driving force of maintaining economic growth, plus satisfy the needs of the future generations along with efficient consumption of limited resources. The basic principles of sustainable energy policy includes enhancing the efficiency of energy consumption and production, increase the added value of energy use, and pursue low carbon and low pollution energy supplies. The Taiwanese industry of printed circuit boards (PCB) has a market share as high as 31.3% in the world. According to the statistics provided by Taiwan Printed Circuit Association TPCA, in 2017 the production value of Taiwanese PCB companies in both Taiwan and China was 619.2 billion dollars. The PCB industry is an industry of high electricity and water consumption and high pollution. Even the emphasis on recycling waste water still requires use of electricity resources. Therefore, reducing electricity consumption is the most effective way to lower the printed circuit board industry’s carbon emissions . Facing the challenges of energy safety and global warming, it is important to protect the security of energy supply and environmental sustainability. Expanding sources and cutting costs are the two main areas in which expanding sources should focus on low carbon emissions energy source, whereas cutting cost requires to increasing the use of various kinds of energy or conversion efficiency. Industrial production businesses are the main consumers of energy in Taiwan. Promoting and developing all kinds of energy saving technology or products and adjusting the pattern of energy use can increase the efficiency of energy consumption, and lower the demand for energy. Enhancing efficiency of energy, fortifying energy self-sufficiency, and reducing environmental pollution are the core values. Will energy saving systems succeed? In the article, we will use the field area that has been in operation for 5 years to explore the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats in competition and find the appropriate direction and recommendations.
