Abstract The traditional manufacturing industry starts with labor-intensive manufacturing process which including processing with supplied materials, manufacturing with supplied drawings and samples, assembling with supplied parts and compensation trade. Over 3 decades of Chinese reform and opening up, traditional industries such as household appliances, communications electronics, consumer electronics, textiles and clothing, building materials have created an economy miracle in the rapid growth of the manufacturing economy. In the post financial crisis and new normal period, the traditional industries have been further enhanced and play an important role in the rapid economy. Undoubtedly, the traditional industries have laid a solid foundation for the further economy development and will continuing be the fundamental force for maintaining the sustainable development of manufacturing economy. Traditional industries, especially labor-intensive manufacturing industries, are the main characteristics of the mass production of the visual economy, and it is also the great support for Guangdong to maintain its status as the nation’s strongest economic province for years. Although the traditional industries have always played an important role in the development of manufacturing economy, there are still many provinces in China see the traditional industries, especially labor-intensive manufacturing industries, as low-tech sunset industrials and have completely abandoned the traditional industries or shifted the focus to high-tech industries in the industrial transformation and upgrading process which is not acceptable. The transformation and upgrading of the industry is not just switch the main product to high-tech production, besides, all high-tech products are still supporting by the traditional industries. It is more important to upgrade from internally on the entire production process and management by using the network technology to combine the analysis the production data and also implement PLC, ERP, MES and automation to moving forward to the goal of “Industry 4.0” and “Made in China 2025”.
