At the beginning of 1625, a Portuguese merchant ship set off from Manila to Macau, but unexpectedly stranded on the coast of Chaozhou, Guangdong.The ship was boarded with multinationals such as missionaries, merchants and slaves, and was loaded with silver and various goods.After the stranding, the refugees were sent to various places in Guangdong for interrogation and were released to Macau the following year. During the interrogation of the case, many factors such as silver, the Donglin Party disputes and the Jesuits of Macau Jesuits of Macau Jesuits of Macau Jesuits of Macau were involved. Compared with other places, Guangdong has more autonomy in handling cases of shipwreck. During the one year in which the refugees lived in Guangdong, many interesting incidents of intercultural contact occurred, which also provided us with a unique perspective on the late Ming Dynasty. |
