U理論主張在任何社會制度中創造出的結局品質,來自於系統參與者的覺察能力、注意能力以及意識能力的素質。U理論的主要著作 「Theory U: Leading from the Future as It Emerges』 [1] 這本書最初在 2007 年出版,作者Otto Scharmer展現了與Peter Senge, Joseph Jaworski 以及 Betty Sue Flowers 的合作成果。

十年後,U型程序在非營利組織中被廣泛使用,在營利性公司中的應用卻很少。顯然,U理論未受到商業管理階層的廣泛認可。

在本論文中,我們將提出一套實現U型程序的工具集、技能以及心態建立的實用框架。目標是通過U型程序指導商業經理人進行策略聯盟的設計。商業策略聯盟可以透過本論文提出的實用框架結合U型理論更好的抓住機會,在不確定和不可預測的世界中驅動成長以及應變。

本論文以一個跨國EDA(電子設計自動化)公司利用這個實用框架建立商業聯盟的實證結果做為案例。

在實證中成功和五家夥伴建立策略聯盟在半導體產業中共創價值。本論文運用的所有工具都未受侷限於半導體產業中,所以預期貢獻可以被通用化運用在其他產業的策略聯盟管理。
Theory U proposes that the quality of the results that we created in any kind of social systems is a function of the quality of awareness, attention, and consciousness that the participants in the system operate from. The book, Theory U: Leading from the Future as It Emerges [1], by Otto Scharmer was initially published in 2007. The work itself draws on collaboration between Scharmer and his colleagues Peter Senge, Joseph Jaworski and Betty Sue Flowers.

After the decade, the U-process was extensively used in non-profit organizations but with very few applications in for-profit enterprises. Obviously, theory U is not well received by corporate management.

In this thesis, we propose a framework with a tool set, skills and mindset for U-process implementation. The goal is to guide business alliance managers on their strategic alliance design through U-process. Business alliance marries theory U through the proposed framework can better catch opportunities in order to drive growth and change in the world that is uncertain and unpredictable.

We conducted one case study of a multinational EDA (Electronic Design Automation) organization that has created business alliances using the proposed framework.

In the case study, we successfully create the strategic alliances with five partners to co-create value in the semiconductor industry. The contribution of this thesis would allow the generalization for managing strategic alliances in other industries because none of these tools are limited to be just used for the semiconductor industry.
