Pueraria lobate is a plant that was discovered and used very early in the development of history of China. The earliest known Pueraria lobate fabric unearthed is three fragments dating back more than 5,000 years. It was excavated in 1972 at the Neolithic site of Caoxieshan, Jiangsu Province. Pueraria lobate was used a lot in ancient times, it can be used as a fabric, and it can also be used to cure diseases and satisfy hunger in famine years. Until modern times, Pueraria lobate is still valued for its medicinal properties. Pueraria lobate has a very high use value in ancient times and modern times, this work systematically collect, sort, summarize and record the use and record of Pueraria lobate in history of China. This work take Pueraria lobate as the research core, conducts long-term observations, and tries to clarify the growth range of Pueraria lobate from the Tang Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. And tries to analyze people in different periods and different regions, the ways of using Pueraria lobate. From the aspects of cultural significance, economic value, production technology, etc., this work explores why the main use of Pueraria lobate has gradually changed from fabric to medicine and food. |
