The Longxi Li families were naturalized The Northern Wei in the mid-fourth century A.D. And later, the members of Longxi Lis had had higher rank and more power, the families became the aristocracy families of Chinese medieval age.
The purpose of this study was investigate the development of Longxi Lis(隴西李氏) in Mid-fifth century A.D. to Mid-sixth century A.D. from the perspective of "political network". Liao Jitian(廖基添) and Chen Shuang (陳爽)pointed out that the relationship network centered on the Longxi Lis(隴西李氏),who had a far-reaching impact on the structure of the scholar clan in the Xiao-wen period(孝文朝). It’s helpful for we to understanding the evolution of this international network in the Northern Wei Dynasty.
First of all, The marriage between the Long-xi Lis and Tai-yuan Wangs(太原王氏), the ancestry in Taiyuan, it was a key for the Longxi Lis to get out of the interpersonal network of Liang-zhou(涼州)and integrated into the North China(華北)scholar society. Subsequently, Li Chong(李沖), who was a prime minister in the Northern Wei Dynasty, he took part in various measures of Tai-he Reform(太和改制)as a close minister. Li Chong cooperated with Xiao-wen Emperor(孝文帝),as a result, they established a new political network . The interpersonal network composed of the Imperial Lineage, the Xing-yang Zhengs(滎陽鄭氏), the Fan-yang Lus(范陽盧氏), the Tai-yuan Wangs and the Qin-ghe Cuis(清河崔氏). Finally, it became the most important political network in the Northern Wei Dynasty. After The Northern Wei moved the capital to Luoyang(洛陽), Li Ting(李挺) and other members of Longxi Li's who were active in the cultural salons of the Princes. They were well in "literature". On the other way ,the interactions between Chiefs and upper and middle-level bureaucrats in the Junfu(軍府)and the Zhoufu(州府), which should it not be neglected. The scions of the Longxi Lis, who served in the Junfu and Zhoufu of Zong Wang(宗王)as upper-level bureaucrats. And they were able to stabilize the political alliance between the five princes of Xian-wen(獻文五王), and the six princes of Xiao-wen (孝文六王).
For the Longxi Li families ,who were acquired higher rank through intermarriage and alliances with the royal family of Yuan Wei(元魏)and the aristocracy families of North China.
Through the social network of the Longxi Lis, this thesis tries to get out of the group theory .The alliance of scholar-official families are not only political factors, but also to make friendship with idea, personal interests and their own places.
