Currently, the solar cell industry is a fluctuating-price industry. Hence, to grasp the market trends, customer-orientation, and rapid response to customer orders are the key factors in corporate profits. Therefore, after the completion of the battery manufacturing, inventory and picking operations must also be prompt to save time required for storage and shipment, which will help speed up the shipping schedule to achieve customer satisfaction with Order Fill Rate (OFR) if a strategic solution comes out.
Storage operations for the case study of the company's solar cell factory are currently used to manually transfer these goods to store, there is no importing automatic storage system to assist in storage operations, which is in the condition of lack of automation assistance, the current problems encountered are: (1) The product numbers of goods are not classified, resulting in extended delivery-time of brushing boxes. (2) Due to the unclear definitions of all kinds of finished product storage in the operations, which causes the problems of mixed and disorderly product storage. It relies on just the staff’s experiences in placing the goods. (3) Inbound Dynamic Line Duplication and Only dependence on personnel to carry the goods by electric pallet trucks means that the electric pallet trucks will move longer distances, which causes more times of handling, greater occurrence of financial damage and probability of injury.
In this case, we discuss the QC STORY adopting the problem-solving procedures as the main architecture, which is applied to the solar cell storage process for the case study of the company, and sort out a kind of structural improvement in the storage operation process management, the uncertainty of the storage locations, the finished products often mixed with the storage movement line to repeat the assessment process. Retrieved from the case study’s experience, companies can start a continuous improvement within the sectors to improve the operating platform, whose purpose lies in improving the operating platform applied from the production process to the shipment, and customer satisfaction advancement, in order to enhance the case study of the company's competitiveness in the industry to minimize the resources used to maximize the revenues. Finally, the performances of the improved storage process are summarized as follows: 1. Completion of the construction of warehousing process improvement problem-solving mode. 2. The generation of a storage system. 3. To meet customers’ needs, the improved storage process has met the requirement of the case company to reduce the cost and provide the decision reference for the future factory storage operation.
